Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad
Individual vineyard – 87.3 hectares
Altitude: 130-190 meters AMSL
Incline: 100 % sloping
Soil quality: stony, sandy soil/ sandy loam, scree material (new red sandstone) in the area bordering the hills.
It is assumed that the name ‘Reiterpfad’ originates from the Medieval Latin loan word ‘rutarius’ meaning the member of a ‘Rotte’ (military unit), and that it refers to a route that was formerly used by the army. Since the beginning of the Modern Age, the distinction between the words ‚Reuter’ and ‘Reiter’ has increasingly been lost. Due to its slight ascent towards the edge of the forest the vineyard enjoys a mild Mediterranean micro-climate.
