This vineyard is one of the top locations in the Palatinate. The complex soil, which is mixed with basalt and lime, produces full-bodied, elegant Riesling wines of a special kind. It was not just Otto von Bismarck who was obsessed with this wine exclaiming: ‘Dieses Ungeheuer schmeckt mir ungeheuer’, which roughly translates into ’ This monster (Ungeheuer) tastes monstrously good’.
