Deidesheimer Maushöhle
Individual vineyard – 30.80 hectares
Altitude: 120-180 meters AMSL
Incline: 100 % sloping
Soil quality: loam/sandy loam, at times mixed with shingle, interspersed with weathered lime stone soil, very changeable.
The location has nothing to do with ‘Mäuse’ (mice). It refers to the family name ‘Maus’ of the former owners of the vineyard. The word ‘Höhle‘ originates from ‘Halde’, which has the same meaning as the German word ‘Hang’ which is ‘slope’. This vineyard enjoys a sheltered position in a valley fringed by the Pfälzer Wald Forest.
