Federal State Wine Contest 2010

In order to promote the production of premium wines and sparkling wines, the Chamber of Agriculture organises an annual wine contest at federal state level. It is by far the largest competition of this kind where around 2,500 firms present approximately 19,000 products from the six viticultural areas of Rhineland-Palatinate. The wines and sparkling wines are graded according to technical aspects and presented for assessment to the expert committees who are unaware of the region or winery they come from. Only persons with specially trained sensory skills and experience in the assessment of wines are admitted as experts. The wines and sparkling wines are evaluated in accordance with the assessment concept for official quality wine tastings stipulated by the German wine regulations (Weinverordnung).

Only those wines that are clearly above average are awarded a (gold, silver or bronze) medal (Kammerpreismünze) by the Chamber of Agriculture. You will find all current award-winning wines in our online shop.
