Grape varieties
It is above all the Riesling grape that thrives in Deidesheim. This is why this variety, which is indisputably one of the best in the world, has also been given ‘Number One Status’ by the Winzerverein Deidesheim: more than 60 % of its overall area under cultivation is planted with this noble grape.
Müller-Thurgau (Rivaner), Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder) and Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder), Chardonnay, Morio-Muscat, Kerner and Rieslaner round off the range of white wines on offer.
Our classical red wine grapes such as Dornfelder, Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) and Portugieser have been joined by other international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Cubin, which these days make up the standard range.
