Chardonnay
Although, until recently, this was the ‘new kid on the block’ in our range of wines, the Chardonnay grape has quickly become an established player. Generally, it is one of the best and most popular grape varieties in the world. Worldwide its vineyards take up an area that is virtually equivalent to the one covered by Riesling vines. With around 1,100 hectares under cultivation in Germany, Chardonnay is grown on around 1.1% of German vineyards. The Deidesheim Vintners’ Association has set aside approximately 0.5% of its vineyards for the cultivation of Chardonnay. The wine boasts a fresh and at times even racy fruitiness that is combined with the smooth and sustainable texture typical of this variety.
