Müller-Thurgau (Rivaner)

This is the grape variety that we use to produce enjoyable light and easy-going wines as well as our delicious ‘Federweißer’ (fermenting wine must) in the autumn. For a long time, the Müller-Thurgau grape was wrongly believed to be a cross between Riesling and Silvaner (hence the synonym ‘Rivaner’). However, a successful ‘paternity test’ in 2000 established that it is in fact a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale. This variety prefers deep soil that is not too heavy.
