This grape produces wines which easily please most palates as well as the delicious Federweisser in autumn. Müller-Thurgau was long mistakenly thought to be a cross between Riesling and Silvaner (which is why it's also called Rivaner). The successful analysis of its "ancestry" in the year 2000, however, revealed that it's a cross between Riesling and Madeleine royale. This grape prefers deep soils that are not too heavy.
