Rieslaner is a cross between Riesling and Silvaner that was created in 1921. Predominantly grown in Franken to date, this grape is now also being cultivated in the Palatinate. Due to the fact that Rieslaners tend towards high acidity levels, it should preferably be used for late or Auslese vintages. This grape produces extraordinary wines when it is grown in good locations and in years with lots of sun. Its typical aromas include citrus, passion fruit and peach.
